The Life of Britney Spears
Britney Spears is an American singer, songwriter, dancer, actress, author, and entrepreneur. Britney Jean Spears was born on December 2, 1981 in McComb, Mississippi. She was raised in Kentwood, Louisiana. She was the second child of Lynn Irene Bridges and James Parnell Spears. Her brother is Bryan Spears and her sister is Jamie Lynn Spears.
Britney’s first husband as Jason Allen Alexander. They married in 2004. The marriage was annulled. She then married Kevin Federline in 2004. The couple had two sons. They divorced in 2007.
Britney was raised as an evangelical Protestant. She came from a strong religious background. She was baptized into the Southern Baptist Convention. Britney studied Kabbalist teachings. “Kabbalism is an esoteric method, discipline, and school of thought of Judaism. It forms the foundational mystical religious interpretations within Judaism”, (Definition from Wikipedia).
At the age of three she began attending dance school in her hometown of Kentwood, Louisiana. Britney was selected to perform as a solo artist at an annual recital. She made her first debut at the age of five at her Kindergarten graduation. Her genres are Pop and Dance-Pop. She appeared in stage productions and television series.
Spears singed up with Jive Records in 1997. She is referred to as “Princess of Pop”. She has won numerous awards and accolades, including a Grammy Award, six MTV Video Music Awards, the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award, seven Billboard Music Awards, The Millennium Award, and a star on The Hollywood Walk of Fame.
She is one of the world’s best-selling music artist. Spears has sold over 100 million records worldwide. Her first two albums were: Baby One More Time (1999) and Oops!...I Did It Again (2002). Britney’s third album was In The Zone (2003). Her first book was entitled: Britney Spears’ Heart to Heart, was co-authored by her mother Lynn Spears. In June of 2002 Spears opened her first restaurant named Nyla in New York. Britney landed her first starring role in Crossroads in February 2002.
In January of 2008 she was seen attacking a paparazzo’s car with an umbrella. She fled the scene of a car cash and was charged with two counts of hit and run. The police came to her house and found Britney to be under the influence of an unidentified substance. She was taken to Cedar-Sinai Medical Center. The day after she arrived in the hospital her parental visitation rights were suspended. Britney was placed in the psychiatric ward of the Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center. Spears was photographed shaving her hair. She was put on a 5150 involuntary psychiatric 72-hour hold.
Conservatorship was given to her father which gave him temporary control and later permanent control of her financial assets due to her mental illness. Later her parental visitation rights were restored. Britney said, “My life was controlled by too many people and that doesn’t let you be yourself.” She also said, “I wrote back there that I was lost and didn’t know what to do with myself.” Britney said that it was anxiety which led to her nervous breakdown.
She now puts her emotional wellbeing first ahead of her career in order manage her anxiety. Spears said, “From an early age I always felt that everyone was testing me. If [something] was out of place, it would have been enough to get me to this point of anxiety. I could get overwhelmed by a lot of very small disproportionate thoughts.” Ten years later Spears says that she is doing great. She said, “My kids shaped my personality and filled me.” Britany stated that the people who are in her industry need to be balanced.
