My Story

Good evening everyone! My name is Renee D. Warring and I am the founder of Uniquely and Wonderfully Made Ministries Welcome to you all. A special welcome to the new members of our community. How have you all been doing? How are you making out during these difficult COVID times? I’m doing fairly well. I’m a little bit depressed due to being restricted indoors.

I am changing my videos. We all need a little spice in our life now a days. I am considering being in contact with you all more than just twice a month. I am excited.

I’m going to be more personal in my approach with you. Today, I will start by telling you my story. On many occasions I have been ostracized as a person who has mental illness. Also, I will tell you what I have been doing during this pandemic.

In Bible times, people suffering from the skin disease of leprosy were treated as outcastes. There was no cure for their disease.  Leprosy sufferers had to leave their homes and families and live together with other sufferers on the outskirts of town. They would have to scavenge for food. We who have mental illness are being ostracized by society like the lepers were.

When I was two years old, one of my family members killed another in full view of the family. I was exposed to the sound of gunshots and blood curdling screams. This incident caused me to develop Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder. When I was growing up, I was a member of loving family. Me and my siblings were taught to love one another and not to physically fight one another. When I went to elementary school, I found myself in a hateful environment of bullies. I was being taunted because my family was a Christian family who went to church frequently. I was also bullied because I was afraid to fight back. As a result of that state of affairs, I would isolate myself from the other children at recess time.

When I got into fourth grade I was bused to southwest Philadelphia, PA. to achieve racial integration. Day after day we would encounter mobs of white citizens with bricks in their hands running after the school buses. Thus, my condition of PTSD worsened.

When I attended The Philadelphia High School for Girls I encountered a rigorous academic environment for which I was ill prepared. Therefore, I was on the verge of having a nerves breakdown. Also, while in that school I was able to make friends with some of the girls. We would go through the streets acting crazy, laughing, and giggling. For the first time in my life, I had a group of friends to hang out with after school. However, I experienced emotional isolation in the group. I was not able to share my emotional self with my friends. Lastly, I was ostracized by many of the teenagers in my church. They would not interact with me socially. My family took the word of God seriously. The other teens attended church to have a good time.

I have had my experiences with social isolation. Please email me at [email protected] And tell me about your experiences. You don’t have to have a mental illness.

I try to do somethings for myself during this time of social isolation due to the pandemic. It can be a battle to ward off depression. First, I read the Bible. Second, I do not look at or listen to the news except for one hour in the evening. Third, I call some of my family and friends. Fourth, I walk two miles

four times a week. Lastly, I read other books. Please email me.

How has the pandemic effected your mental health? What do you do to maintain your sanity? What fun things do you do with your family?

Well family and friends, it has been a pleasure talking with you today. On the fourth Friday of this month, I will tell you all some more about myself. Go to my website and fill out the contact form. The web address is UWMMinistries.com
